Appointment as Executive Vice Chair of Academic Affairs
Congratulations to Oliver Eickelberg, MD, who was appointed as Executive Vice Chair for Academic Affairs on June 1, 2024. Dr. Eickelberg previously served as Vice Chair of Basic and Translational Research in the Department of Medicine since 2020. This role will support our academic mission by improving collaborations across the DOM, as well as enhancing opportunities for career development for faculty, trainees, and visiting scholars. In a nutshell, this role will help to build bridges and identify and break barriers for all members of our Department to shine and excel.
Appointment as Vice Chair of Basic and Translational Research
Congratulations to Sruti Shiva, PhD, who was recently appointed as Vice Chair for Basic and Translational Research, effective August 1, 2024. In this role, Dr. Shiva will provide critical input and oversight to continued growth of our research efforts, such as implementing new programs that promote collaboration across our department; support to Division Chiefs and Institute Directors in the recruitment of research faculty to the Department of Medicine; and investigate/monitor space requirements/management across our Department to meet the needs of our clinical, translational, and basic research investigators.
