Kristen Ann Ehrenberger, MD, PhD, has been named the inaugural director of the Program in Health Humanities and Social Sciences at the Pitt Institute for Bioethics.

The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism was honored with the 2025 T1D Exchange Outstanding Adult Team Award in recognition of their leadership in advancing equitable diabetes care and improving technology access for adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. >> Read more

Raagini Jawa, MD, MPH, has been named one of the Allies for Health + Wellbeing 2026 Bright Young People, recognizing young changemakers in our community.

PGY2 Resident Doga Kahramangil Baytar, MD, received the Conquer Cancer Merit Award for her work on KRAS-mutant colorectal cancer at the 2026 ASCO Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium.

Joanna Kim, MD, PhD, was awarded first place for her abstract at the Controversies in Transplantation 2026 Young Investigators Forum.

Anne Marie Lennon, MD, PhD, contributed as a co-author to “Multiyear Clinical Outcomes of Cancers Diagnosed Following Detection by a Blood-Based Multicancer Early Detection Test,” named the 2026 Cancer Prevention Research Award for Outstanding Journal Article.

David Levinthal, MD, PhD, has been designated as a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) in recognition of their significant professional achievement and superior competence within the field of gastroenterology. >> Read more

Almut McDermott, MD, PhD, was accepted in the Society of General Internal Medicine TEACH program, a year-long professional development initiative designed to strengthen teaching skills.

Julia McNabb-Baltar, MD, has been designated as a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) in recognition of their significant professional achievement and superior competence within the field of gastroenterology. >> Read more

PGY2 Resident Chinenye Odo, MD, MPH, was awarded the Thomas H. Nimick, Jr. Competitive Research Award to support her project examining disparities in aortic stenosis care among Medicaid patients.

The Pittsburgh Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center will work closely with the Pitt Vaccination and Health Connection Hub to  to develop educational materials about vaccines for older patients with support from a Research!America microgrant >> Read more

Shari Rogal, MD, MPH, was accepted into the 2026 AGA Women’s Executive Leadership Conference, which brought together mid- to executive-level women physicians, researchers, and educators from across the country.

Ethan Silverman, MD, was selected as an Ombuds for the School of Medicine.

Roy Smith, MD, received the 2025 American Porphyria Foundation Presidential Award in recognition of his continued advocacy for patients with porphyria. >> Read more

Ora A. Weisz, PhD, was elected a 2025 fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest general scientific society, recognizing her contributions to cell biology, particularly research on endocytosis and kidney function. >> Read more

Gretchen White, PhD, was selected for the 2026 MOMENTUM cohort, a 12-month leadership and coaching program supporting research-intensive faculty who identify as mothers in the health sciences.

PGY3 Resident Jacqueline Ziegman, MD, won the Frank Kroboth Trainee-Led Innovation Award at GME Connect for her work on improving cardiac evaluations in primary care.
