Over the past several months, leaders across the Department of Medicine have been working together to chart our future course through the development of a comprehensive Strategic Plan. Working committees have been formed around topics including multi-disciplinary programmatic collaborations, modernization of research infrastructure, career development and advancement, inpatient and outpatient care, education, and well-being. The Department engaged Louise Keough-Weed, MS, of KW Facilitation to lead a day long retreat in early June where the committees shared in-depth analyses of key clinical and research priorities, along with forward-thinking solutions and recommendations for improvement.

Going forward, the committee and departmental leadership will be collaborating closely to shape the exciting and diverse ideas that have emerged thus far into a cohesive and actionable plan. Progress updates will be shared through upcoming town halls and faculty meetings.

Even though there is work yet to be done, Dr. Lennon has crystallized and given voice to the core mission of the Department, which will serve as the beacon that guides the finalization and implementation of the Strategic Plan.
